Scout's notes on St. Kitts

Short port days

The beaches of the Southeast Peninsula, such as South Friars Bay and Cockleshell Bay, are a short drive from the port. Basseterre's town center is walkable from the pier.

Long port days

The St. Kitts Scenic Railway, a narrow-gauge train that once carried sugar cane, loops through villages and old plantations along the coast. Brimstone Hill Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with sweeping views, is about a 30-minute drive. Catamaran trips to neighboring Nevis are also popular.

Getting back on time

The railway runs to a fixed schedule, so book a tour timed to your ship. If you visit Nevis, check how long the boat crossing back takes before you go.
