Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Excursion Scout ("we") collects when you use this website and what we do with it. The short version: we don't ask who you are, we don't set cookies, and we don't sell information.
Information we collect
Tour searches. When you view a port, your browser sends us the port and any date you entered so we can show matching tours. We don't link searches to your identity. To keep the site fast, we may briefly cache search results (no more than an hour), and searches can appear in our server logs.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information for each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. We use logs only to run and secure the site, and keep them for a limited period.
Analytics.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies or track you across sites, and reports only aggregate statistics such as page views and which websites referred visitors.
Tips you share. If you send us a tip for a port page, we keep the tip, the first name you give, the month you visited, and your cruise line if you choose one. If we approve it, the tip, first name, month and cruise line appear on that port's page. We don't ask for your email or last name, and we don't keep your IP address with your tip (we use a scrambled form of it for an hour to limit spam). To have a tip removed, email us with the port and the first name you used.
Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, and use it only to reply.
Cookies
This website doesn't set its own cookies, and our fonts and code are served from our own site. Photos load from Unsplash's image servers, which receive standard technical information such as your IP address, under Unsplash's own privacy policy. Every page loads a script from our booking partner GetYourGuide, which shows their tours on our port pages and credits us for bookings. GetYourGuide may set cookies and receives standard technical information, such as your IP address and the pages you view, under its own privacy policy.
Links to booking partners
When you click a tour, you go to a booking partner's website. That partner may use cookies to record that you came from Excursion Scout so we can be credited for any booking. Anything you do on the partner's site, including bookings and payments, is covered by that partner's own privacy policy, not this one. We receive reports of bookings and commissions, but not your payment details.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We may share information with service providers that run the site for us (such as hosting), or if required by law.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
You can use the site without providing any personal information. To ask about information we may hold, or to request its deletion, email info@excursionscout.com.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
