Scout's notes on Port Canaveral

Before your cruise

Kennedy Space Center is about 20 minutes from the port, making it the classic day trip if you arrive a day early. Cocoa Beach and its pier are even closer. With an extra day or two, Orlando's theme parks are about an hour away.

After your cruise

Some tours collect you at the terminal on disembarkation morning, include a Kennedy Space Center visit or an airboat ride, and finish at the Orlando airport. Check that luggage storage is included and that the drop-off leaves enough time before your flight.

Timing tips

Rocket launches from Cape Canaveral can be seen from the area. Check the launch schedule, because they can also slow local traffic. Allow at least an hour from Orlando to the port on embarkation day.
