Bermuda Pier

Bermuda shore excursions

Pink-sand beaches and clear water on a small island far out in the Atlantic, with a historic dockyard at the pier and a quick ferry ride to Hamilton.

Getting ashoreMost ships dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard on Bermuda's west end, at King's Wharf or Heritage Wharf. Hamilton is about 20 minutes away by ferry. A few smaller ships dock in Hamilton or St. George's instead.

A few small and mid-size ships dock in Hamilton or at Penno's Wharf in St. George's instead.

All-aboard is usually 30 minutes before sailing; your ship's daily planner has the exact time.

Scout's notes on Bermuda

Short port days

Snorkel Park Beach and the National Museum of Bermuda are a short walk from the ship in the Dockyard. Horseshoe Bay, the best-known pink-sand beach, is about 20 minutes away by taxi or bus.

Long port days

Take the ferry to Hamilton for Front Street and the harbor, or the seasonal ferry to St. George's, the old town at the far end of the island. Snorkel and shipwreck boat trips leave from the Dockyard. If your ship stays overnight, you have time for both.

Getting back on time

Visitors can't rent cars, so you rely on buses, ferries and taxis, and buses fill up on busy days. Buy a transportation pass at the Visitor Information Centre in the Dockyard, and check the last ferry back before you head out.
